Monty Update
Monty is doing awesome!!  He is the biggest love on the
planet.  He loves to cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog.  He has been the model
citizen when we are at work.  Previously, I had been putting all the baby things
away when we leave (bouncer and swing with fun hanging, noisy toys) and now we
are gradually testing the water leaving those out and he doesn't even care.  My
friend asked if I was sure he was a lab because he hasn't even thought about
chewing anything- not even one of his toys.   He loves all toys and even doesn't
mind when the baby crawls over to play with his toys (of course, you buy all these
baby toys and the baby would prefer to play with dog toys!).

He is amazing with the boys and was definitely meant to be part of a family with
kids.  He especially loves my 5 year old son.  He follows him everywhere (which is
good- up and down the stairs a lot is good exercise!!) He loves story time at night
(Curls up right between everyone) and alternates sleeping at night between our
room and the boys' rooms.   He loves to lick the baby (even when he isn't covered
in food) and our other dog has taught Monty that food eventually comes flying off
the high chair if you are patient.   The baby loves to reach out and touch the dogs
and Monty actually encourages him by nudging his hands!  He also will bring his
balls and drop them in the baby’s lap when he is in his saucer or swing and sit
patiently to see if he will throw it!  Poor Monty hasn't figured out that at 7 months,
they don't throw yet.

Overall, I think Monty is very happy.  He is starting to bark to protect the house
when they hear things outside or when someone rings the doorbell.  He is a
beautiful combination of youthful puppy (some of his expressions when he plays
and the enthusiasm when he does cannonballs into the pool ) and calm, well
behaved gentleman.   Monty has been a joyful addition to this family and couldn't
have fit in more perfectly.  I need to download some recent pics from our camera.
When I do that, I will forward them.  That is further down on my list of things to do...
Gotta go, Monty came in to tell me the baby is up.  He is way better than a baby
monitor!

Sincerely,

Monty's Forever Mom
