Hops (Kate)
Kate (AKA Hops) is a 3.5 year
old black lab. She is a big girl
at approx 90lbs so she will
need a family that can handle
her size. She could possibly
knock over small children
when she is excited, but so far
has been very mindful and
gentle with the children in her
foster home. She has had some obedience and knows “sit” “stay” and
“heel.” She would be a great dog for a family that has dog experience
and could build on her obedience skills. She is a very willing learner!
She has been getting along fine with the cat at her foster home. She was
very interested at first, but now she has settled in and just gives her a
sniff here and there.
She adores attention from her human friends, and would rather be the
only dog in the house so she can get it all. She loves to lean up against
you for nice long petting sessions and will look into your eyes and melt
your heart.
She has been doing very well on her walks (which she LOVES), and has
been friendly to the dogs that we have met along the way. She loves to
play with her Kong toy and will chase it and bring it back over and over
again. She also likes squeaky toys too! She likes to cool off in the little
wading pool when she has been running for a while.
She is housetrained and has good manners in the home (doesn’t chew
on things she shouldn’t, stays out of the trash etc). She is learning crate
training but isn’t very fond of it yet (a treat helps!).
She likes to be where the family is, and will just hang out and relax
somewhere nearby when things are quiet. But, when it’s time to be
active, she is ready to go!
Kate is waiting for her new family to come along and love her forever.
