Lucy and Her Puppies
On Thursday February 2, ALGBR received information regarding a pregnant lab who was due in
two weeks. That Saturday Feb 4th, we picked up Lucy, the Mom-tobe yellow Labrador from the
family that did not have time for her, let alone the 5 - 10 puppies she was expecting. The family
had made the decision that for Lucy's and the puppies best futures, that Lucy enter ALGBR's
program.
On Sunday Feb 5th, Lucy delivered her puppies over a 12 hour period. Her puppies were
delivered in her foster Mom's home where she was cared for every step of the way. Several of
our volunteers came to help in anyway they could at the first sign that puppies would come
soon. One of our volunteers built her a wonderful whelping box for her to be comfortable and
safe while she cares for her litter. If you wish to help ALGBR care for these puppies, please

Lucy is a wonderful Mom to her puppies. The puppies will be fostered by our volunteers under Lucy's
watchful eye. Once the puppies are old enough they will be available to be taken home by approved
families, who have completed an adoption application and a home visit. The application date will help
determine which puppy gets adopted by which family. (For example: first application assuming
successful home visit would get first pick of the puppies). Please visit our Events page to learn about
our community outreach with a local elementary school regarding the puppies.
