In the middle of January ALGBR rescued six puppies that all needed to be cared for until they were old enough to be placed in their new forever homes.
They have been living with an experienced puppy foster family since the day they arrived to our organization and will remain with them until they are 10 weeks old and ready for adoption. They are all so cute and will need names before they go to their new homes.
The puppies all needed to have just the right names to go along with those cute little faces, so ALGBR thought, “Who could we ask to help us pick out the perfect puppy names?”
We placed a call to the Principle of Roadrunner Elementary School to ask if there was a class that might like to help us in naming our new puppies. That same day we received a call from the third and forth grade teacher at Roadrunner E.S., who said that her students would like to help us, name the puppies.
Our first visit to the classroom was a lot of fun, we talked about the puppies, how did we rescue them and who’s taking care of them now. Each student was given a packet with a picture to color with a space at the bottom for that special name they were thinking about. The students are now preparing a short story or a poem which will be shared on our third visit.
Our second visit to the classroom was one week later to collect all the colored pictures and names they had selected for the puppies.
Each student put a lot of thought into each of the following puppy names, King, Pearl, Ruby, Junior, JJ, Jesse, Ruby, Mason and Jackson.
However more great names just kept popping up so the final names submitted were Ruby, Jolie, Pearl, Junior, Jackson, Jessie and Mason which are all great names.
There was also an additional surprise that day for the third and forth grade class, a visit from Maxwell who is a chocolate Labrador and a registered therapy dog. His owner shared with the students everything about Maxwell, what he does as a therapy dog and each of children got to snuggle with Maxwell, give him treats and had their photo’s taken with him.
