If you have come to the difficult decision that keeping your Labrador or Giant Breed may no longer be possible, please contact ALGBR to discuss your concerns. Perhaps we can direct you to resources that can help you keep your dog through assistance, training, or education.
Sometimes the best option is to rehome your pet yourself. Your pet can be in a place that is familiar and stress-free until you can find them another permanent and loving home. This also allows you to screen potential adopters yourself and make sure your pet is getting the best home possible. After all, you are your pet's best advocate for finding a home! These sites allow pet owners to list their pets for free and can provide additional resources to help rehome or retain your pet:
Rehome (by Adopt a Pet and the Petco Foundation)
(We always recommend that if you choose to rehome your pet on your own that you make sure your pet is spayed/neutered and up-to-date on their vaccinations.)
If this is not possible, we will meet with you and assess your dog and situation in a respectful and non-judgmental manner. We will determine whether your dog fits the criteria for our program. If so, ALGBR will intake your dog as soon as possible.
ALGBR requests that all pertinent information, including vet records, and your dog's favorite items that will help ease the transition for him be passed on to ALGBR. Information on his favorite activities and his behavior will help us place him in his new home.
Please contact our Rescue Phone line for additional information. (602) 307-LABS or use the contact form provided.
Please include your phone number so that we can contact you and be sure to include a picture of your pet by sending it to intakes@azlabsandgiants.org.
WE CANNOT PROCESS YOUR REQUEST WITHOUT A PHOTO!
ALGBR ONLY ACCEPTS THESE BREEDS INTO THEIR PROGRAM: LABRADORS, GREAT DANES, MASTIFFS, NEWFOUNDLANDS, AND IRISH WOLFHOUNDS. IF YOUR DOG IS SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE BREEDS LISTED ABOVE, PLEASE SEEK ANOTHER BREED-SPECIFIC RESCUE OR A MULTI-BREED RESCUE. A LISTING CAN BE FOUND HERE.
